Hi Academias,

Saudi Arabian Airlines, also known as Saudia, has recently made headlines with its announcement to purchase nearly 80 new aircrafts B788 Dreamliner from Boeing which is one of the largest deals in Middle Eastern aviation history. And for Boing too it is the latest large order for the wide-body jets in the past few months. Under the agreement, valued at nearly $37 billion, Boeing will provide the Middle Eastern nation with 121 of 787 Dreamliner jets, that will be equipped with General Electric’s most advanced GEnex engines Saudi Arabia’s new national carrier will “move with real pace” to expand into a major airline as the oil-rich kingdom seeks to improve connectivity to the rest of the world.

This significant investment by Saudia will enable the airline to expand its fleet and improve operational efficiency, ultimately enhancing the customer experience.

Slightly looking back to Saudia Arabian Airlines History :

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) is the national airline of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the largest airline in the Middle East. It flies 12 billion passengers per year. The airline carries many observers as they make an annual pilgrimage, the hajj, to the holiest of destinations in the Muslim world. Saudia Arabian religious practice prevents the carrier from serving alcoholic beverages to passengers and also informs certain personnel policies.

The rapid expansion of the middle to late 1970s was not sustainable in the long term, and in 1980 a five-year development plan was announced that placed emphasis on upgrading service and ensuring a controlled expansion of about 30 percent more passengers carried each year. The plan made provision for ordering new wide-bodied aircraft: eight Boeing 747-100s, two 747-SPs, and 11 Airbus A300-600s. By the end of the five-year plan in 1985, an additional provision had been made for the purchase of ten Boeing 747-300s, five of which entered service that year.

And by countinously rapid growths in this 2020s “SAUDIA continues its expansion efforts in all aspects of the airline; whether it’s introducing new destinations or increasing the aircraft fleet,” His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of SAUDIA Group. “The agreement with Boeing delivers on this commitment and the newly added aircraft will further enable SAUDIA to fulfill its strategic objective of bringing the world to the Kingdom”.

SAUDIA currently operates more than 50 Boeing airplanes on its long-haul network, including the 777-300ER (Extended Range) and 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner. The additional 787s complement SAUDIA’s existing fleet, enabling it to effectively harness the value of the 777 and 787 families.

“Adding to its 787 Dreamliner fleet will enable SAUDIA to expand its long-haul service with outstanding range, capacity and efficiency,” said Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “After more than 75 years of partnership, we are honored by SAUDIA’s confidence in Boeing products and will continue to support Saudi Arabia’s goal to expand sustainable air travel.” ( source boeing media room )

Since revenue service began in 2011, the 787 family has launched more than 350 new nonstop routes around the world, including about 50 new routes since 2020. The Dreamliner reduces fuel use and emissions by 25% compared to the airplanes it replaces.

Well congratulation Saudia Arabin Airlines for the new fleets

Have a pleasant flights Saudi Arabian Airlines
