Goods subject to one and the same Customs Tariff may be packed in more than one package.

Marking

Non-Malaysian goods bearing marks suggestive of Malaysian make, must show a counter indication of their true origin.

Routing

Route via Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu or Kuching for consignments destined to points in Malaysia.

RESTRICTIONS

  • Live animals
  •  Health Certificate from veterinary official in country of departure.
  • Certificate of Origin certified by local Chamber of Commerce.
  • Import Permit (valid 1 month) from State Veterinary Dept. Kuala Lumpur.
  • Inspection at the entry point.

Cats and dogs:

  • Health Certificate (issued within 7 days prior to shipment) must state: (a) age, sex, colour; (b) that animal is healthy and free from any signs of infectious or contagious disease; (c) that during the preceding 6 months no case of rabies has occurred and the animal has not been imported in the country of origin.

Quarantine:

  1. Animals to be quarantined at the point of entry.
  2. Cats and dogs – minimum 7 days in Kuala Lumpur, Penang Padang Besar and Labuan quarantine station. No quarantine required, if imported from United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Singapore, Japan or Eire.
  3. Other Animals – Quarantine period according to species and origin, subject to import regulations.

Plants and plant material

(Including seeds, soil, insects, fungi and cultures of microorganisms)

  • Import Permit from Department of Agriculture Malaysia must be obtained prior importation (valid within 3 months for one consignment). Import permit must be faxed to consignor who should obtain Phytosanitary Certificate from the country of export to certify requirements in the import permit.
  • Phytosanitary Certificate must not be issued more than 14 days before departure.
  • CITES permit must accompany plant under CITES regulation.
  • Shipment must be on individual Air Waybill and not under consolidation. All plants and plants material (including fruits, vegetables, cut flower and plants for analytical, medical, manufacturing, decoration and exhibition purposes or serving as food) are to be inspected on arrival.
  • There will be quarantine officers on duty 24 hours (irrespective of public holiday and weekends) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport to inspect agricultural items imported into Malaysia.
