Meeting with E commerce platform..Big Unicorn at their office yesterday reminding me of my old school Air Asia Academy.
( I joined from scratch.. so i could share though, pse treat this as thoughts sharing)
To me Air Asia is truly successful Unicorn grew fast not because of decent product or service it had initially. Everyone was so “amazed” with no frill , no seat number , no ticket , no seat number , forfeited ticket if late and other No No T&C. Old B733 fleets that gave us considerable last minutes surprises of AOG (Aircraft cant fly for technical reasons) leaving us with tons if complaints from stranded guests. And we were the pacifiers 😃😃
Air Asia is unicorn as buyouts through large public company with no growth
“Air Asia was only bought for 1 Ringgit” said CEO ( I think he was saying he had to pay huge debts from the company he bought and left only 1 Ringgit)
To me Air Asia grew fast and Get Big Fast through its high rates of large funding ( crowds fundings from tickets sales , penalty , ancillary incomes ) powered by unbeatable e-commerce base advanced technology ) with its capability to gain massive economic scales … internet faster and than ever.. then throwing out shocking tickets pricing as high as fuel price or even Zero.. that make everyone cant stand buying tickets 😊😊…. then wallaaaa… it pushed away competitors at time (Now) not tomorrow 😊😊😊 .. investors , venture capitals iPO are also part of financial initiatives
Go back to unicorn i visited…. i think Unicorns shall learn from Air Asia.. seriously .. look at Red House Air Asia..Door less… many rooms to fights ( brainstorming) , open culture , fun , energetic.. mostly youngsters… and compelling vision from Top Leader…. Then Leader Creates Leaders…. technology is the backbone but CULTURE to asset PEOPLE is the core
And some Unicorns decided right,,, hiring some talents from Air Asia (free ads ha ha ha)
No matter what firms you are in…. Lets shape them to Unicorn business model
