Hi Academias,

By creating a comprehensive peak season transportation plan, businesses can ensure that their supply chain as well as people movements (exodus ) operates efficiently during times of high demand. Some common peak seasons include Hari Raya , Black Friday/Cyber Monday, the holiday season, back-to-school season, and major sporting events. In Aviation this period can potentially leads to flight disruptions if huge of Logistics and passengers demands to occur.

Key issues and check list Airlines are normally doing during disruptions are

  1. Resources/Volunteer/Contact lists
  2. Airport Authorities Contacts/Procedures
  3. Communications to customers
  4. Special needs customers
  5. Accommodation
  6. Overnight kits
  7. Meals and refreshments
  8. Ground transport
  9. Use of aircraft as a holding area
  10. Languages
  11. Arrivals handling
  12. Post departure communications
  13. Stationery
  14. Review etc

The beauty being personnel /Staff working for transportation are that they must be made available throughout the delay or disruption with access to information (e.g. mobile phone, radio etc.).

Where required to increase staff numbers, consider requesting additional ground handling agents, town office staff or requesting assistance from group partners should be the resources to be made available to smoothen handlings.

Close liaison with Airport authorities/Government officials (e.g. immigration, Customs, Quarantine) is essential in order to provide the best possible processing of our disrupted customers.

A good relationship should be maintained and always keep them informed and negotiate procedures that will eliminate disruption and inconvenience to our customers. Contact details of all appropriate people must be kept available.

Relating to Hari Raya, other than air transportation, Government must have provided annual regular plan like Mudik Bersama Facilities to minimize bottlenecks within only one single mode of transportation. It’s not only Road transportation, but Sea transportations are also providing solution for mudik Bersama during Hari Raya Peak Season.
