Cat , dogs are part of the family.

I had two lovely cats. Muezza is Himalayan breed cat with vivid blue eyes, and its coat, which comes in a variety of shades, is long and dense. He was so affectionate and playful. When my family went for vacation , we put Muezza and Mochi , his Brother in the Cat Boarding. It was so unfortunate whenever we went back fetching them they lose weights and got sick. We immediately went for veterinarian to get them cured. But Muezza was so badly infected and died. My wife and I and sons felt so great loss and weeping in tears when he was away. All my families remembered Muezza died in January the 1st , 2021 at 11 am.😢

Similarly in further extend that Cats and Dogs are not merely being treated as a faithful, cuddly companions Pet , in for instance Dogs , in many parts of the world, Dogs are being trained as Bomb Detection Dogs to save human lives for their talents. Whenever Like what happened in India just recently , Simba ( the name of Dog ) got full respects and Salutes from Indian Police for his service in the Bomb VVIP Squad in India. So hard breaking moment to see the funeral processes.

So Guys , once vacation comes most of the time we have to leave them in veterinarian or Cat/Dog Boarding/ hostel as it’s not easy things to bring them around with us. Many Liner ( Mostly Airlines ) along with destination countries are putting stern measures on Animals transportation therefore if you are not that be familiar, those gonna cost you with worries and unexpected more costs spendings. In the Airlines we call them with Operator variation and State variation restriction.

In this article, I would share you on Animals transportation in the Airlines not only limited to Pets but other animals as well. Welll you can simply refer this to your shipping agency, however if you know the knowledge it will be pretty much easier to handle them.

Live Animals

The acceptance of live animals consignments is subject to the conditions of the Live Animals Regulations as described in the IATA Live Animals Regulations Manual and to Carrier’s Special Regulations which are closely related to the type of animal, type of aircraft, temperature at origin, en route and at destination, availability of animal attendant(s), etc.

Therefore, and in view of the extensive co-ordination requirements inherent to such carriage the acceptance of live animals is mainly controlled centrally by Airlines and requires advance arrangements.

Apart from this, adherence to the following conditions is a prerequisite for acceptance of live animals:

Health and condition of animal(s)

Only animals which appear to be in good health and condition and fit to travel to the final destination will be accepted for carriage by air. The shipper is required to declare when animals are pregnant, or have given birth in the last 48 hours. Mammals which are declared to be pregnant will not be accepted unless accompanied by a veterinary certificate certifying that the animal is fit to travel and there is no risk of birth occurring during the journey.

Packing and marking

Packing must be clean, and leak-proof and escape-proof to allow safe handling carriage.

At least one ‘LIVE ANIMALS’ label or tag, properly completed, must be attached to each live animal container, unless otherwise stated in the individual container requirements.

Containers carrying animals which can inflict poisonous bites or stings must be marked ‘POISONOUS’.

Food and other additional articles

As the shipper , you have to be aware of that any additional articles, e.g. food, to accompany the shipment will be included in the chargeable weight and, if to be shipped as separate pieces, marked as forming part of the shipment and the weights to be collectively Counted for.

Reservation

Confirmation must have been received of reserved space on Carrier’s flight(s) and possible connecting flight(s) of other carrier(s) up to airport of destination.

Consolidation

Live animals may not be consolidated with other goods; a consolidated shipment may, however, be wholly composed of live animals.

Documents

Health documents, Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals

Live Animals Acceptance Check List  and rabies inoculation certificate are generally required

Shipper’s Responsibilities (Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals)

The shipper or his authorized agent must complete a Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals for each shipment. For the purpose of these Regulations, an authorized agent is a person expressly authorized in writing by the shipper to execute the Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals, except that this must not include IATA Cargo Agents, consolidators, forwarders and surface carriers.

Note:

When animals are carried as baggage the requirement for the Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals is optional at carrier’s discretion.

Completion of the Shipper’s Certification

Language

The certification form must be completed in English. If required, the wording in English may be supplemented by an accurate printed translation in another language.

Number of Copies

Two copies of the certification form must be completed and signed with signature. One signed copy will be retained by the carrier which accepts the shipment from the shipper. The other signed copy will be sent with the shipment and attached to documents for the final destination.

Format and Information Required

The certification form must incorporate the common name (in English) and scientific name of the species and must be entered in the species description box of the Certification.

Example:

Parrots

– common name

Poicephalus robustus

– scientific name

For domestic dogs, cats, farm animals and laboratory animals that are not listed in the appendices to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered, the common name only in English, may be shown.

Signature

The shipper or his authorized agent must sign the Shipper’s Certification for Live Animals. Hand-written or stamped facsimile signatures are acceptable where permitted.

To assist shippers, agents and airlines to prepare shipments for air carriage, the IATA Live Animals Board has developed a basic “Live Animals Acceptance Check List”. In addition to checking the actual consignment, it is recommended that those involved with live animals shipments, also ensure that governmental, and other control agencies requirements have been complied with.

The person checking the consignment must tick each answer with a “Yes” or “No” as applicable. If the answer to any question is “No” it is an indication that the consignment does not comply with the IATA Live Animals Regulations. The consignment must not be accepted for carriage and a duplicate copy of the completed list must be given to the shipper.

The Rest of Animals’ carriage handling covering food and feed , transhipment / destination handling etc

Airlines has taken all the measures necessary to ensure safe transports and ‘wellbeing’ of the animals are taken care of.

Salam Sehat Semangat Sukses
